Every week, I host a live Q&A on entrepreneurship, personal growth, investing and more via my Instagram account. The format is simple: you open the livestream, ask your questions in the comments and get them answered by me and other peers who are also participating.
Last week’s topic was on building an audience for your idea, product or brand. It’s the most common question I get from the startup companies and brands we work with. Simply put, if you have an audience you have leverage. Whether you’re an artist, direct to consumer brand or anything in between, your audience is your oxygen.
Here are my 3 pillars on building and growing yours:
1. Be genuine + sincere: Before you sell anything, your only goal should be to develop a genuine relationship with those that connect with you. Audit yourself constantly to make sure you don’t stray from this.
2. Experiment: Don’t be afraid to test different creative, messages, call to actions, taglines, etc. You won’t know exactly what connects with your audience until you try it.
3. Collaborate Across: Before trying to work with the leader in your space, work with others who are in a similar position. Build community and conversations.
Hopefully this gives you some things to think about. That’s it for this session. See y’all next week!
